But for someone who is still capable of filling out the journal style layout of the "Granparent's Legacy" book, it is definately the way to go and comprable in cost. "Grandmother Remembers" is shorter, simple, and to the point.
I ordered this one for my grandmother, however, I ordered the "Grandparent's Legacy" for my parents (soon to be grandparents). I looked at several of these books, and liked the questions and layout of this one best.
But that one might be a little too lengthy or in depth for an older grandparent. The "Grandparent's Legacy" is a lot nicer and looks a much higher quality.
I really like the layout and it is a lot more in depth than most. With my 90 year old granny's failing eyesight and health, I felt it was a more appropriate book.
I feel you get much more for the money.
I am 31 and this was MY book too from my grandmother. When my grandmother died it was so comforting to have her writing about me (I received it right before she passed). Now I have a son and for Mother's Day I couldn't believe I found the exact same one. Talk about a great trip down memory lane. I frequently look back into it and feel so comforted and learned so much I didn't already know. Every child needs a nice book like this.
ok, maybe it's the hormones, but i got all weepy looking through this. i can't wait to have my mom and mother in law fill them out for my little girl. i would have LOVED to get one of these from my grandma. so if she inherits any of my sappiness this should be a fantastic gift for her someday:)
I was amazed at the product choices and the ability to "look inside" my selection. My traditional gift for new Grandmas is a published book for my friends to fill with memories of the child's parents. My local bookstores and gift shops no longer carry this product and a friend recommended using Amazon.com. I believe this was the first time I had shopped with Amazon.com and my trust has been validated ever since. I am grateful that Amazon keeps a record of my purchases because it looks like I will purchasing more "Grandmother Remembers" books in 2009.
Though not as cute or attractive as some of the other grandmother memory books, I liked this one because of the wording used in relation to the grandfather. My parents are divorced, so I didn't want a book that celebrated their relationship, just one that reported about it. This one is good for that. It can also be modified slightly to report about a parent/step-parent couple without too much confusion.
